This technical webinar, presented by Christopher Lucas of Lucas Environmental, LLC (LE), provides a deep dive into the critical intersection of wetland science and land surveying. Rather than a broad overview, we will focus on the practical application of the WPA, specifically distinguishing between field-delineated inland resources and the elevation-based coastal resource areas that require seamless coordination between the surveyor and the wetland consultant.

Wayne Jalbert Named MALSCE Surveyor of the Year
Wayne C. Jalbert, PLS, president of Hancock Associates, was named the recipient of MALSCE's prestigious 2025 Surveyor of the Year Award during the 2026 MALSCE Convention’s Annual Meeting.
The Surveyor of the Year award is annually presented to a professional land surveyor who has provided outstanding leadership for the profession. The MALSCE Awards Committee, which is comprised of the four most recent Surveyor of the Year Award winners, selected Wayne in appreciation of his exemplary years of professional excellence, dedication to the highest standards, and meaningful contributions to the profession of land surveying. His continued support of UMass Lowell—one of the few engineering programs in the Commonwealth to offer coursework in land surveying—is both significant and noteworthy. His strong advocacy for MALSCE membership and active involvement within his organization is also deserving of recognition.
The tradition of selecting a Surveyor of the Year dates back to MALSCE’s early days. It allows the association the opportunity to honor and thank a leader who has been exemplary for their service to MALSCE, the profession and the community. You can see the names of the past award recipients on the MALSCE website.
